29 Dec Bortolomiol winery as it closes 2017 with a turnover of more than 14 million euros
2017 has been a year full of satisfaction both on the domestic and foreign markets for Bortolomiol, the historic Prosecco Superiore winery in the heart of Valdobbiadene. ‘An incredible year, a truly exciting path in 2017’ – Elvira Bortolomiol, vice-president, says – ‘Thanks to the new international platforms, more than 45 countries appreciating our Prosecco Superiore and a good deal of commitment to sustainable agriculture, we managed to surpass our targets and we are proud to close the year with a turnover that exceeds 14 million euros“. The well-known magazine Wine Enthusiast has awarded the Bandarossa wine with 90 points; Kerin O’ Keefe, from the group that deals with Italian wines, has defined the sparkling wine as “silky, vibrant and incredibly aromatic”. A further goal achieved this year, which adds to the 90 points awarded by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate to the Grande Cuvée del Fondatore wine, which also won the coveted 3 Glasses award by Gambero Rosso for the second year running. Great appreciation came also from international chefs such as Massimo Bottura who selected Bortolomiol for the pairing with his dishes on December 2, in the inaccessible Ellis Island in New York, in front of the Statue of Freedom, where an exclusive dinner was held for charity purposes. The Grande Cuvée del Fondatore, the only Italian wine present, was combined with a welcome aperitif and dessert.
‘The toast with Bossura was a really exciting moment’, Roberto Cipresso, Bortolomiol winemaker, stated. ‘Despite the vintage has been challenging in various respects, even from a climatic perspective, we nevertheless managed to obtain excellent results from a qualitative point of view, thanks also to the extraordinary work of Emanuele Serafin to whom I delegated the management of daily winery activities”.
If it is true that Prosecco Superiore is increasingly appreciated across the border, Bortolomiol has had proof of this in the last 12 months, opening new markets for the first time, such as Taiwan and Vietnam, and consolidating its image through foreign trade fairs: Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Honk Kong, Beijing, Los Angeles, Moscow and New York are just a few cities conquered by Bortolomiol sparkling wines. A 2017 to remember and a 2018 already full of new and ambitious projects!
