2016 harvest: updates from the Bortolomiol team

On these days the Bortolomiol team – counting the agronomist Giovanni Pascarella and the oenologists Michele Spina and Emanuele Serafin from Wine Circus – is visiting the winemakers and vineyards of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area.

“The situation in the vineyard today – they comment – is ideal, with an optimal production on the steep rows, and a health situation of the bunches which is altogether excellent.”

After visiting the single vineyards and understanding the timing of maturation, one can today foresees the grape Glera Prosecco Superiore harvest to start on 20th September.

The steep vineyards of Valdobbiadene have therefore once again responded perfectly to the cool and rainy spring phase, characterized by incessant rainfall between May and June. This is thanks to the natural vocation of local soils, which are very well-draining, and the high slope of the vineyards.

“Together with our growers – they comment – we hope now that the weather situation in September will allow a perfect ripening of the grapes with an increase of the sugar and of the aromatic richness inside the grapes.”
